Water Well Pump Repair for Homes, Ranches and Farms

Well pump repair starts with what the well is doing. You turned on the faucet and nothing came out, or the pressure fell to a trickle. The pump kicks on and off every few seconds, or the breaker keeps tripping. Some wells start spitting air, and some start bringing up sand.

We test the electrical side before anything gets pulled. The pressure switch, the control box, the wiring and the motor readings say whether the pump is dead. A bad switch or a burned control box is a far smaller repair than a pump. When the readings say the pump has to come out, we pull it with our own pump hoist rig.

Pipe and wire fail down the hole too, and we fish out pumps and pipe that have broken off. While the pump is out we replace worn drop pipe, wire, check valves and fittings, then set it back at the right depth. When a repair stops making sense we quote a well pump replacement instead. When the pump is sound but the pressure is not, the trouble is usually the well pressure tank.

  • Wells with no water, low pressure, air in the line or sand in the water
  • Pressure switch, control box, wiring and motor readings tested before the pump comes out
  • Pumps pulled and reset with our own truck-mounted pump hoist rig
  • Pump fishing: pumps, pipe and rod retrieved from the bottom of the well
  • Pumps reset at the right depth, because a pump set above the water level never pumps
  • Worn drop pipe, wire, check valves, torque arrestors and well seals replaced with the pump
  • Household wells, ranch and stock wells, irrigation wells and small commercial wells

What we do

Water Well Service and Repair Across Gila County

Everything after the well is drilled is our work. That covers the pump and pipe below ground, the pressure tank and storage tank above it, solar setups and windmills.

Pump Replacement

We replace worn out well pumps with new submersible pumps sized to the well's depth and yield. New drop pipe, wire, a check valve and a well seal go down with the pump.

How we work

Shallow Creek Bottom Wells to Deep High Country Wells

The wells out here are not built alike. In creek bottom country a well can be under 100 feet deep. In the high country we have set pumps more than 700 feet down. Some feed one house, and some fill stock tanks, run irrigation or pump on nothing but sunlight.

That range is why the rig and the tools matter. We run our own pump hoist rig and our own fishing tools. A pump that broke off down the hole comes up with the same rig that pulls the good ones. The electrical side gets tested first, and the scope of work and the quote come before repairs begin.

Much of this work sits at the end of a long dirt road. We get to ranch and stock wells miles off the pavement, through summer desert heat and high country weather. House pumps, solar well pumps, water storage tanks and windmills all come from one company. The well, the tank and the line out to a trough are all part of the same job.

Why Choose Jacob's Well and Pump Services

Built for Wells in Gila County and the Country Around It

The electrical side gets tested first

Pressure switch, control box, wiring and motor readings come before a pump is pulled. A bad switch is a much smaller repair than a pump.

Our own pump hoist rig and fishing tools

The rig pulls and sets pumps and pipe on shallow wells and deep ones. The fishing tools bring up pumps, pipe and rod that have broken off down the hole.

House, ranch, solar and windmill wells

One company handles the house pump, the stock well, the storage tank, the solar setup and the windmill. The whole water system gets looked at together.

Based in Globe, working about 75 miles out

We cover Gila County and the country around it, on ranch roads as well as in town. A home or a herd with no water moves to the front of the schedule.

How We Work

How a Job With Jacob's Well and Pump Services Runs

From the first call to water back at the tap or the tank, here is how it goes.

1

Tell us what the well is doing

Call or text (928) 961-6641, or send the form. No water, low pressure, short cycling or a tripped breaker all point somewhere.

2

We ask about the well

Depth, age, the pump that is in it, and the ADWR registration number if you have one. Those numbers start with 55, and old paperwork tells us what is down the hole.

3

On site, the electrical side first

The pressure switch, control box, wiring and motor readings get tested at the wellhead before anything is pulled.

4

The scope of work, then the quote

You hear what the repair involves and what it will cost before the work starts. Nothing comes out of the well until you say go.

5

The repair, then a tested system

The pump is pulled and repaired or replaced, and the pipe and wire go back right. Then the system is run and checked, and the wellhead is sealed back up.

Frequently Asked Questions

Questions About Well Pump Repair and Well Service?

The questions well owners and ranchers around Globe ask us most. If yours is not here, call and we will answer it.

Call (928) 961-6641

What should I check before I call about no water?
Check the breaker for the well and the pressure gauge on the tank. A tripped breaker or a gauge reading zero tells us a lot on the phone. Do not open the control box or the pressure switch cover, because those carry live power. Then call or text (928) 961-6641 with what you found.
What happens if I call and nobody answers?
Leave a message. Much of our work is out where there is no cell service, so calls go to voicemail. Leave a message, send a text to (928) 961-6641 or use the form, and we get back to you. Our listed hours are Monday to Saturday, 9am to 5pm.
How does pricing work on a well pump job?
You get a quote before any work begins. Depth is the big one, along with the size of pump and motor the well needs. Drop pipe, wire and how close a truck can get to the wellhead all count too. Call or text (928) 961-6641 for a quote.
What areas do you work in?
We are based in Globe and work about 75 miles out, across Gila County and the country around it. That takes in Miami, Tonto Basin, Roosevelt, San Carlos, Whiteriver, Winkelman, Hayden, Kearny and Mammoth, and sometimes up to Payson. Call and ask about your spot.
Do you drill wells?
We are not taking well drilling jobs at this time. Our work is everything after the well is drilled: pumps, pressure tanks, storage tanks, solar pump systems, windmills and cleaning out existing wells. A new well or a deeper well is drilling work, and you would need a well driller for that.
Do you work on solar well pumps and windmills?
Yes. We install and repair solar powered well pump systems for ranches, stock wells and off grid homes, including deep wells. We also service water pumping windmills: the gearbox oil change, new leathers and check valves, sucker rod and drop pipe, and tower work. See windmill repair for what that involves.
How long does a well pump last?
It depends on the well, the water and how hard the pump works. National cost guides put a well pump at 8 to 15 years with regular upkeep. The well itself usually outlasts the pump in it. Sand is the usual killer, and a pump that starts and stops constantly does not last as long.
Can you find out how deep my well is?
Often, yes. The Arizona Department of Water Resources keeps a public well registry, and most registered wells carry a number that starts with 55. The driller's log shows how the well was built and what it drilled through. Send us that number or your old paperwork and we will pull the record. Rules can differ on reservation land.
